The Taraba Progressive Frontiers Forum recently convened a high-level multi-stakeholder policy dialogue focused on the critical state of rural roads, bridges, and community infrastructure across Taraba State. The event brought together senior government officials from the Ministries of Works, Finance, and Local Government Affairs, alongside civil society representatives, community leaders, development partners, and infrastructure experts. Participants reviewed detailed reports on the infrastructure deficit facing rural communities, highlighting how poor road networks continue to limit access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services. TPFF presented case studies from three local government areas where infrastructure neglect has resulted in significant economic losses for farmers and traders. The dialogue produced a comprehensive set of policy recommendations, including calls for increased budgetary allocation to rural infrastructure, establishment of a dedicated rural development fund, and stronger public-private partnership frameworks for infrastructure delivery. These recommendations have been formally submitted to the Taraba State Ministry of Works and the State House of Assembly Committee on Infrastructure. TPFF has committed to following up on the implementation of these recommendations through its ongoing advocacy and legislative engagement activities.
